Guided Fishing Trips

Muddy Ranch offers guided fishing trips on the John Day River as a way to invite others in to experience the Ranch, and the vast wilderness that surrounds it. Young Life's Washington Family Ranch borders 13.5 miles of incredible river frontage and is located in the middle of a 5-day stretch of river. During the float you will have to the opportunity to view unique rock formations, a variety of wildlife, and clear, calm waters.

The John Day River is one of the nation's longest free-flowing river systems encompassing 284 miles. The John Day River basin drains nearly 8,100 square miles of central and northeast Oregon. Elevations range from 265 feet at the confluence with the Columbia River to over 9,000 feet at the headwaters in the Strawberry Mountain Range.

We primarily offer guided fly fishing but will accommodate for fishing with spin rods. We welcome beginner or advanced fishermen! Book a trip for a peaceful float through the unique rocky landscape surrounding the river and to fish the pristine waters in Central Oregon!

Fish the John Day River!

Depending on the season you join us, you'll have the opportunity to fish the waters of the John Day River for Steelhead or Small Mouth Bass.

Steelhead Trips typically run from September to April. Small Mouth Bass Trips run from April to September.

Most trips will begin at Washington Family Ranch in Antelope, OR. From here, guests will be shuttled to the best fishing spot based on current conditions so we can ensure fishing is at its prime.

Hunting Program

Muddy Ranch uses its amazing wildlife resources to tell the story of Young Life and its mission of sharing Jesus with kids. We invite guests to partner with us in raising capital for Washington Family Ranch improvements. We have an Outdoor Advisory Board who supports and advises our program with their time, treasure, and talent. We offer big game hunting, bird hunting, fishing trips, as well as shooting and ranch tours. Currently the hunting program is limited to invitation only guests. Our guided fishing trips are a great way for anybody to come and experience the ranch and hear more about what we do.
